Eco-Friendly Shoe Review: New Balance 070

New Balance 070
Is being eco-friendly one of your 2010 resolutions? I bought a pair of New Balance 070 shoes, which New Balance engineered to make with recycled and natural materials. They also engineered the design to minimize scraps and waste. While the 070 is labeled a trail shoe, I consider it to be a casual shoe suitable for wearing for daily activities. I love the fit, as the RL-3 last has a wide forefoot and narrow heel. It is very lightweight, but that also means it lacks much in the way of cushioning and doesn’t have a padded tongue. Those are the chief reasons I wouldn’t use it for walking any significant distance (over a mile). But for a casual shoe you can enjoy wearing as you put lifestyle steps on your pedometer, they work great and I’m wearing them daily around the office. One caveat is that I found the same drawback as with some other New Balance trail shoes - they actually are slippery on wet surfaces.
