A beach body?

It is Sunday early morning The beach is almost empty Just a few beach goers showed up Among them a group of middle-aged women between 38 and 45 The chatter started about anything and everything I couldntt resist but I started to eavesdrop Suddenly one of the women stood up and started to put sunscreen over her body Another woman commented Sweetie you look great what have you been doing She responds Are you kidding me I have gained weight Look at my thighs my stomach and my arms But what can I do I am getting old and for our age we look pretty good Remember when we where in our twenties and we looked at the other women and we thought Oh my God look at that old hawk with the thunder thighs At least we know we have to workout Come lets get some food from the store and off they went I couldntt resist thinking that this is a perfect blog entry for three following reasons 1 Who can you trust when it comes to an honest opinion We all have our body image issues Sometimes we like to get valuable feedback on how we look Who do we ask then Our spouse I highly recommend finding a neutral person such as a personal trainer or a close friend that you dont have a sexual relationship with And ask them for their honest opinion Just listen And see what the answer will be 2 Is it true that we have to accept an out-of-shape body at an older age No it is not Look at Jack LaLane He is close to 90 years old Look at Madonna Incredible bodies even at an older age Whatever older means Yet you dont have to accept letting your body get out of shape Change it and stay in control 3 Metabolism By now you already know that your metabolism slows down 2 every decade Hence yes you will need fewer calories to maintain life functions If you are going to keep eating as if you were in your 20s when you are in your 50s yes you will gain fat tissue Therefore an adjustment will be necessary as you age Also remember people are living longer and longer Dont you want to look good for the next 20 30 or 40 years You can You have the tools to do it Changes are very important in anything you do Changes occur in your work and your family environment You adjust Why not with your body Your workouts your food intake and your recovery All of them need to be addressed in a workout program Yet comparing yourself to others who were not in shape when you grew up does not count Why not look at role models who have managed to stay in shape through the aging process Find some of them and find out what has worked for them I am sure they will be happy to share their secrets with you Best Stefan
